WILMINGTON — We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Janis Kiehlmeier, a devoted mother, grandmother, homemaker, and artist. Janis passed away peacefully, on Tuesday June 4, 2024 at the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center in Wilmington, NC leaving behind a legacy of love and creativity.
Janis was born in Erie, PA on June 17, 1950 the daughter of the late David John Wilding and Polly Hanusik Wilding.
Janis passed on the same day as her beloved husband, of 53 years Robert Kiehlmeier. She is survived by her children Amy Rottmann and husband Dave, and David Kiehlmeier and is a cherished grandmother to Camden and Walker Rottmann. Her family was the center of her world, and she dedicated her life to nurturing and supporting them.
An accomplished artist, Janis was co-owner of Fat Cat Gallery, where she showcased her talents in pottery and jewelry making. Janis’s warmth, artistic spirit, and dedication to her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will live on through her beautiful creations and the love she shared with her family and friends.
