WILMINGTON — It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Kiehlmeier, a dedicated and beloved member of his community. Robert passed away peacefully,on Tuesday June 4, 2024 at the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center in Wilmington, NC leaving a legacy of service, dedication, and love.
Robert was born in Erie, PA on August 16, 1949 the son of the late Robert Raymond Kiehlmeier and Beulah Burch Kiehlmeier.
Robert served as a Chief in the United States Navy and as a volunteer firefighter for both the Harborcreek and Ogden Fire Departments. He retired from a successful career at General Electric and was known for his hard work and dedication. His passion for HAM radios was well-known among his family and friends, and he enjoyed spending countless hours volunteering and connecting with others through this beloved hobby.
Above all, Robert was a loving family man. He passed on the same day as his beloved wife of 53 Years Janis Kiehlmier, and is survived by his children, Amy Rottmann and husband Dave and David Kiehlmeier, and his grandchildren, Camden and Walker Rottmann. His love and guidance will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Robert Kiehlmeier’s life was marked by service, love, and a profound dedication to his family and community. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
