WILMINGTON — Randolph Franklin Shifflett Jr., 64 Born on December 11, 1959, he died on February 29, 2024, after a courageous battle against cancer.

Randy, the son of Randolph Shifflett and Erva Shifflett, was a lifelong resident of Wilmington, NC. Growing up, Randy’s favorite pastime was surfing and fishing. Living at Wrightsville Beach during high school, all he wanted to do was surf and fish. Randy tentatively moved to Virginia for his last year of high school.

After graduating, he attended Ferrum College in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. But salt water was in his blood, so he moved back to Wilmington, joining his brother-in-law in the carpet cleaning business.

After several years, he joined the staff at Bruce Watkins Supply, where he worked as a lead counter salesperson for over 30 years.

Randy was a hard worker. After marrying the love of his life, Lisa, Randy took on a second job to help make ends meet. He used most of his energy to raise his two sons, of which he did a very good job.

Randy was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church. An accomplished guitar player. He played in the church band during the Sunday service. He was a true giver to the Lord.

He is preceded by his mother, Erva Shifflett, his father, Randolph Shifflett, his nephew, Stephen Horne, and Michael Snow.

Randy is survived by his loving wife, Lisa, and his sons, Randy and Sam. He is also survived by his sisters, Debbie and Sabrina.

Randy will be missed by a great many people, but the memories of him will live on forever!!

A celebration of life will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1403 Market St., Wilmington, NC 28401, on Saturday, March 9. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare of Wilmington.
