LELAND — Reginald Richardson Kidd, Jr., affectionately known as Reg, peacefully passed away on Friday February 16, 2024, at the age of 92. He was born on February 20, 1931, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Reginald Richardson Kidd, Sr. and Alice Lillian Fox Kidd.

Reg lived a fulfilling life, leaving behind cherished memories for his family and friends. After years of dedicated service, he retired from AT&T. Reg had a passion for boating on the Cape Fear and was a proud member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Alongside his beloved wife Gloria, he embarked on countless adventures, visiting numerous National State parks and relishing in the joy of cruising. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War and member of the Leland VFW.

Reg is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Gloria Leon Kidd. He also leaves behind his son, Reginald R. Kidd III, and wife Julie, as well as his daughter, Deborah Elaine Leporowski, and husband Timothy. Reg’s brother, Jerry Kidd, and wife Neva, were a constant source of support and love throughout his life. He was a doting grandfather to five grandchildren: Emily, Patrick, Kyle, Austin and Logan. Additionally, Reg adored his three great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Charlotte, and Millie.

The family will hold a service in the near future to honor and celebrate Reg’s life. The date and details will be announced soon.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff of Autumn Care Nursing Rehabilitation and the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and his friends for providing immeasurable support during his illness during his final days.

Reginald Richardson Kidd, Jr., will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
