WILMINGTON — It is with great sadness we share the passing of our dear mother, Linda Sue Croom, age 78, on Thursday, January 25, 2024.

She was born February 25, 1945 in Selma, the daughter of John J. Earp and Louise Davis Crocker. In addition to her parents Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Henry A. Croom.

Linda is survived by her daughters, Sheila J. Porter and Debora L. Hobbs (Tommy James); son, William A. Croom; grandchildren, Kristal Moore (Jamie), Shane Hobbs (Bre), Grant Porter, and Rachel Porter; great grandchildren, Kinley, Addison, Jensen, Rowen and Waylon; sisters, Patsy Kennedy (George) and Peggy Woodcock; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Not to be forgotten are her two canine companions, Teagen and Easton.

Linda’s journey on earth was a life well lived. Her years were filled with an abiding love and caring for her family she so adored, and giving freely of her time and talents to all she came in contact with. Linda enjoyed gardening and all of God’s beautiful world of nature. Her graciousness, kindness, and sweet spirit are a lasting legacy that will continue on among those who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends 1 p.m. Monday, January 29, 2024 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with funeral service at 2 p.m. in the Chapel. The Reverend Merrell McKoy will conduct the service.

A burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
