SNEADS FERRY — William Raymond Ross, 83, of Sneads Ferry, passed away Friday, December 1, 2023.
He was born January 1, 1940, in Robeson County, NC to the late Myrtle Ivalee Tipton and Hardy Ross.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emelene Kidd Ross; two sons, Lee Ray Ross and William Wesley Ross; one grandson, Joe Elliott and one great-granddaughter, Mariah Woods.
Survivors include his daughter, Carolynn Thieme; three daughters-in-law, Diane Ross, Linda Ross and Melissa Hunter; three sons, Elvis Hunter, Vance Hunter and Ray Hunter; twelve grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Gail Ross, Mary Jo and Maxine; two nieces and one nephew.
Papaw loved racing, football and fishing. He was always there to support his grandchildren when they went to their games, whatever sports they played, he was always on the sidelines rooting them on.
And to Ross’s Racing, you were the apple of his eye. He was So, So proud of this team. Keep racing and remember Papaw is watching now.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Andrews Hampstead Chapel. The family will receive visitors one hour prior.
Burial will follow at Sea Lawn Memorial Park.
