LELAND — Loretta “Jane” May, 88, of Leland, NC, passed away, Monday, October 2, 2023 at the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington, NC.
Jane was born February 5, 1935 to the late Dr. E. L. Fitzsimmons and Mildred A. Fitzsimmons of Evansville, IN.
Jane was born in Indianapolis, IN and grew up in Evansville, IN where she graduated from Bosse High School. After high school she attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. Jane moved to Northern Virginia in 1964 and began her long career in the banking industry. She became the first female Vice President of Marketing for the National Bank of Fairfax in the late 60s. After her retirement from the banking industry she became CFO of Printing and Graphics that she and her husband started.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Dr. Sam Fitzsimmons, daughter-in-law Mary May, and husband Henry R. May Sr. of 49 years.
Survivors include her son, Steven Wahnsiedler of Leland, NC, daughter Vicki Wahnsiedler of Potomac Falls, VA, daughter Lynne Price and husband John of Richmond, VA, daughter Val Winkelman and husband Bill of Harpers Ferry, WV, son Henry May Jr. of Herndon, VA, along with five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Wrightsville United Methodist Church, 4 Live Oak Drive, Wrightsville Beach NC 28480.
