WILMINGTON — Barbara “Cole” Dittmer, age 83, of Wilmington NC, passed away August 24, 2023.
She was born in Wilmington, NC on January 5, 1940 to Mildred “Thomas” and Robert W. Cole, Jr. She was proceeded in death by the love of her life and spouse Allen Joseph Dittmer. They were married for 64 years. Barbara was also proceeded in death by her mother Mildred “Thomas” and father Robert W. Cole, Jr. and sister Brenda Everett.
She is survived by sons Allen J. Dittmer, Jr. and Robert Dittmer (Clara); daughter Debra Ward (Victor); grandsons Cole Dittmer (Kayleigh) and Kyle Ward; granddaughter Victoria King (Michael); and great granddaughter Olivia Dittmer. Additionally, she is survived by brothers Robert W. Cole III, (Ana) and Gene Cole.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 2 p.m., at the Basilica of St. Mary, 412 Ann Street, Wilmington, NC 28401 with the Very Reverend Thomas R. Davis presiding. Interment will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Drive, Wilmington, NC 28409. Pallbearers will be Robert Dittmer, Victor Ward, Cole Dittmer, Kyle Ward, Robert W. Cole III and Gene Cole.
