HAMPSTEAD — Robert R. Weatherspoon, 83, passed away on May 30, 2023, at his home in Hampstead, NC, after a short battle with cancer.
He was born October 8, 1939, in Raleigh, NC. He worked with the US postal service for 33 years in Raleigh. He also worked 17 years as church secretary of Barlow Vista Baptist Church in Hampstead, NC.
Robert was a member of Barlow Vista Baptist Church since 1997 and was a former member of Hocutt Memorial Baptist in Clayton, NC for 25 years.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jewel S. Weatherspoon; daughter, Beth M. Raeihle; son, David R. Weatherspoon and his wife, Laura; and grandson, Brett M. Raeihle.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm, Thursday, June 1, at Barlow Vista Baptist Church in Hampstead. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Fellowship will be in the church annex after the burial.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the building fund of Barlow Vista Baptist Church of Hampstead or Lower Cape Fear LifeCare.
