CASTLE HAYNE — Vickie Mae Hawke, 64, of Castle Hayne, NC, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
She was born in Pontiac, Michigan on January 20, 1959, to the late Warren Runyan and Mary Bunnell Runyan.
She had a great love for her kids, grandkids, and family. Vickie was the general manager for the last 15 years at Surf Suites in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, where she was beloved and respected by her employees, the owners, and guests alike. She also enjoyed traveling from time to time and going to casinos. Vickie had a huge impact on people who knew her and was like a mother to all. She will dearly be missed.
Vickie is survived by her sons, Larry Hawke, Jr (Jennifer Jones), Darrin Hawke (Courtney Abbott), and Chad Hawke (Jacqueline Bickley); her daughter, Mary Johnson (Daniel); brother, Lenny Runyan (Kathy); sisters, Maxine Enochs and Candy Tefft (Dave); and grandchildren, Taylor, Jordan, Samantha, Mason, Cynthia, and soon to come, Vickie Anne; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Vickie is also preceded in death by her husband Larry Hawke, Sr, and sister, Rhonda Runyan.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
