WILMINGTON — Minnie Pearl Rush Bundy Klein, affectionately known as Miki, was welcomed to heaven on May 10, 2023 by her Heavenly Father, and many family and friends. She was born May 2, 1932, in Turbeville, SC to Allison Rush and Minnie Pearl Castine, the fifth child of six children. After the death of her father in 1936, she and her older siblings were placed in the Epworth Children’s Home in Columbia SC. She was greatly impacted by this time in her life.
She was an expert seamstress, crossword enthusiast, and expert bridge player. Her love of music, reading and travel was greatly enjoyed and passed on to her children. She had a wonderful sense of humor and never met a stranger.
Miki met the father of her five children, Albert Bundy, at University of South Carolina while he was pursuing his pharmacy degree after his time in the Navy. They married in 1951 and lived in High Point, NC for several years. After their divorce she lived in Virginia Beach, VA and worked for the City of Virginia Beach. After her retirement, she moved to Wilmington, NC to be near her children.
Miki was preceded in death by her son, John Albert Bundy III, her siblings William Rush, Leslie Rush, Anne Kinney, Jean Williams, and Laverne Rush.
She is survived by one dear sister in law, Alice Rush of Santa Rosa, CA, and her daughters Lynne Mankoff (Craig) of Greensboro, NC, Patricia Graham of Eastbourne,UK, Marian Smith (Bryan) of Wilmington, NC, Allyson Sahina (Bud) of Maitland, FL, and ten grandchildren, Matt Dow of Solana Beach, CA, Ashley, Autumn, and Kalli Smith of Wilmington, Jared Mankoff of Greensboro, Matt and Emily Sahina of Maitland, Jair and Freya Graham of East Sussex UK, Bailey Bundy of FL, and many cousins, nieces and nephews who adored her.
A celebration of life will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare (Hospice) of New Hanover County.
