Charles “Chuck” Boyette Jr, 59

WILMINGTON — Charles “Chuck” Boyette Jr, age 59, of Wilmington, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 23, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Charles O. Boyette. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Melissa “Missy” Boyette; his three children, Ryan Boyette (Veronica), Alissa Boyette, and Bryson Boyette; mother, Alleyne Boyette; sisters, Marie Cristiano, Cherryl Boyette, and Carla Boyette; in-laws, Dr. Linda McCall and Mr. Dennis McCall, and George and Nancy Cockrell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved family members.

Chuck was born in Camp Lejeune, NC and spent his younger years in Belhaven, NC. He attended John A. Wilkinson High School, where he played football. He continued his football career as a born and bred Tar Heel, graduating with a double major from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1987.

Chuck was a hard worker and had numerous work ventures. He was a landscaper in high school, worked on a fishing boat as a young adult, was co-owner of Hard Bodies Fitness Center in Greenville, NC, was a business partner and dive charter captain at Bottom Time Dive Shop in Wilmington, NC, worked in finance, was a salesman at Balkcum Auto, in Wilmington, NC and for the last 18 years was co-owner of Wilmington Auto Wholesale.

Chuck enjoyed scuba diving, spearfishing, hunting, football, 4th of July celebrations in Belhaven, supporting New Hanover High School football, working in the yard, hosting oyster roasts, supporting the Carolina Tar Heels, spending time with family and friends, grilling steaks, and boating. In the words of Jimmy Buffet, “Yes I am a pirate, 200 years too late.”

Chuck was a beloved husband and proud father. His greatest joy was spending time with his children. He enjoyed watching his Baby Girl (Alissa) play softball, lifting weights with his sons, watching his Mini-Me (Bryson) play football, entertaining his kids with funny stories, weekends with Ryan at USAFA, and spending time on the boat enjoying water activities with his children and their friends. He shared his wisdom and life skills with his children to help foster their independence and growth. Because of his guidance and love, his legacy will live on for generations to come.

Chuck was a humble, selfless and Christian family man who lived his life serving and helping others, making a difference in the lives of many. His ocean-blue eyes, beautiful smile, huge heart, sense of humor, and larger than life personality will be dearly missed.
