WILMINGTON — Robert Thomas Barefoot, 91, of Wilmington, NC passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. Robert was born August 10, 1931 in Wilmington, NC at James Walker Hospital. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Calvin and Ethel Lee Barefoot, and his loving wife, Dera Wells Barefoot.
Robert is survived by his loving sister, Marion Morgan; nephew, Donald (Jan) Morgan; nieces Julie (Billy) Beasley and Amie (Rich) Brendle; great niece, Morgan Brendle; and great nephew, Mackay Brendle.
Robert was a faithful member and supporter of the Church of God and the Church of God Childrens Home for 72 years. He and his wife were also members of the local Pine Valley Church of God.
We would like to give a special thank you to Doctor Sutton-Surak and the wonderful staff of Trinity Grove Nursing Home for their kindness and attentive care of our loved one. Robert worked and retired from the UNCW Maintenance Dept. He and his wife loved to travel to Florida to visit family and he also enjoyed visiting the mountains and seeing the fall colors. Going out to eat was a special treat for our “Uncle Bob.” We will truly miss you!
A funeral service will be held at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Larry Horrell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 1 p.m. Burial is on Monday, December 19, 2022 at noon at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
