Richard “Ric” Allen Shore “, 70

CAROLINA BEACH — Richard “Ric” Allen Shore “, age 70, of Carolina Beach, NC passed away peacefully on July 12, 2022 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington.

Ric was born July 12, 1952 in Charlotte but raised in Gastonia, NC. He moved to Carolina Beach in 1986 and worked for 40 years as a Conductor for CSX Railroad.

Ric was probably best known for his hilarious story telling. He knew exactly how to make others laugh and feel happy. He loved to spend time at the water…..surfing in his younger days, fishing on the South End of Carolina Beach, or just floating in the ocean with only his beautiful, thick white head of hair showing above the surface. This affectionately earned him the nickname of “Q-Tip”.

He was an avid woodworker and cooked scrumptious BBQ and Roasted Chicken for their yearly July 4th celebration. His infectious southern accent and charm will always be remembered when he called everyone “Son” or “Babydoll”. Ric enjoyed watching NHL Hockey and World Series Little League Baseball. He deeply loved his wife of 46 years, Brenda. He devoured her delicious home cooked meals and rarely went without his iced tea, bread with loads of butter, followed by some creamy ice cream. A one-of-a-kind Southern Gentleman, he will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Vee Shore. He is survived by his wife Brenda of Carolina Beach, his twin sister and husband, Victoria and Mike Stidham of Ponte Vedra, Fl, Niece Meridith McLean and Fiancé Josh Rake of St. Augustine, Fl, Sister in law and husband Beckie and Gene Lakey of Charlotte, Niece Christa and husband Greg Mobley of Wallace, NC, nephew Chad and wife Kelly Lakey of Advance, NC 2 nephews, 2 great nieces, extended family and friends.

A celebration of life will be planned in the near future.

Memorials may be made to the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, 1414 Physicians Dr, Wilmington, NC. 28401
