WILMINGTON — Robert Francis Bobon, 73, died Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Onslow Memorial Hospital.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army, as a communication specialist, assigned to the Army Security Agency in Tokyo, Japan. He was instrumental in the success of several combat missions during the Vietnam War/Conflict. His accomplishments earned him several decorations and promotion to Specialist in his field. Robert was one of three brothers who served in the Pacific Theater of Operations and throughout the remainder of his life, greeted all veterans with a handshake and a salute.
Robert fell asleep in Our Lord early Thursday morning on July 21, 2022. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, George and Marion Bobon. Two brothers Georgie Bobon and Lawrence Bobon. He left behind a brother William and wife Anna (Dee) Bobon of Somers Point, NJ, a sister and best friend Susan and husband Sam Lawler of Wilmington, NC, a sister-in-law Anna Bobon of New Castle, DE, a Goddaughter and Caregiver Benjalee and husband Brian Pittman of Wilmington, NC, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Visitation on Tuesday, July 26th from 4pm to 6pm at Andrews Funeral home, 1617 Market Street, Wilmington NC. Funeral services on Wednesday, July 27th at 1130am at St. Mark’s Catholic Church 1013 Eastwood Road and final resting at St. Basils The Great Orthodox Cemetery 4601 Blue Clay Road, Castle Hayne, NC.
