William “Kerry” Williams, 73

WILMINGTON — William “Kerry” Williams, 73, of Wilmington, NC, passed away July 6, 2022 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center. He was born January 11, 1949 to the late William Lloyd Williams and Betty Lou Grimsley Williams.

Kerry had a very distinguished career in the nuclear fuels trade for over 47 years and was involved in the creation of two patents. For many years he enjoyed fishing, and for the last 32 years he was heavily involved in building and flying scale model airplanes with his son and their many friends. Kerry also loved the holidays, particularly Halloween and Christmas, and was known for his elaborate decorations. Cooking the turkey, ham, and pound cake for his family during the holidays was a source of great enjoyment for him. Kerry had a love for Tarheels basketball and would watch and study every game both past and present. Another passion was watching Hallmark Christmas movies and vintage war movies.

For many years Kerry always owned a black Dodge truck with the vanity plate of BIGBLACK, which is a nod to his father who owned an older model truck with the vanity plate BIGRED.

Kerry is preceded in death by his parents, William Lloyd Williams and Betty Lou Grimsley Williams.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Carolyn Still Williams; daughter, Christina Heikkila of Wilmington; son, David Williams (Kimberly) of Wilmington; sister, Elizabeth Wittmer (David) of Wilmington; brother, Robert Williams (Charlene) of Virginia; grandchildren Brandon Williams, Allison Williams, and Aidan Heikkila; and numerous nieces and nephews.
