Edward “Ed” Joseph Raliski, 90

CAROLINA BEACH — Edward “Ed” Joseph Raliski, 90, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2022. Born on October 5, 1931, in Norwalk, CT, he was the son of the late Joseph Paul Raliski and Helen Babinski Raliski.  He was predeceased by a sister, Carolyn Raliski Shields and his eldest son, Edward Stephen Raliski.

After graduating from Norwalk High School, he served in the submarine forces of the United States Navy. After leaving the service, Ed earned a degree in Accounting from the University of Bridgeport while also working full time for the Post Office. He had a long and successful career as a corporate accountant with a copper mining corporation, Phelps Dodge Industries, at offices across Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and Florida.

Ed was blessed to be able to enjoy a long and fruitful retirement.  Traveling, first to many locations across Europe, and then later exploring most of the lower forty-eight states was a particularly favored pleasure.  Planning a car trip and assembling maps and binders full of sights, landmarks, and motels all planned out was a task that he relished.  Particularly memorable was a Caribbean cruise for his 50th wedding anniversary in 2006 with the families of all of his children.  Ed was also a volunteer for the Help Center-Food Pantry at Carolina Beach, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and at Thalian Hall. He was also a member of The Knights of Columbus.

Surviving is his beloved wife of sixty-six years, Mary Eleanor Bode Raliski; a son, Jeffrey Kenneth Raliski and wife Barbara of Norfolk, VA; a daughter, Mary-Ellen Thompson and husband Chuck of Lexington, SC; a daughter-in-law, Karen Raliski of Pinehurst, NC; five grandchildren, Kristen Raliski Fyock and husband Ted of Alexandria, VA, Kathryn Raliski Pham and husband Justin of Alexandria, VA, Caitlyn Thompson Sansone and husband Michael of Washington, DC, Emma Thompson Studemeyer and husband Ryan of Columbia, SC, and Ben Raliski of Emeryville, CA; five great-grandchildren, Tad, Kinsey, Noah, Caleb, and Jack; a sister, Dorothy DiLeo and husband Richard of Norwalk, CT; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 9:00 am Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at 8:30 am prior to the service at the church.
