WILMINGTON — Jimmie Irene Evans passed away on August 18, 2021, in Wilmington, NC at the age of 84. She was the wife of the late Maxwell C. Evans (of Faison, NC), who died in 2006.
She was the daughter of the late Henry James and Nellie I. Williamson. Jimmie is survived by her sister, Georgia Bernice Bennett of Wilmington; niece Ladeane Little of Faison; stepsister Sallie Swinton (Larry) of Fayetteville; beloved cousins Dianne Hood of Wilmington and Rosemary Coleman of Leland; and her dear friend Rebecca Smith of Wilmington.
Jimmie spent most of her life in Dallas, TX, where she worked in the Insurance marketplace. She moved back to Wilmington in 2016 to live with her sister, Georgia, at Brightmore. She was a great lover of animals, and rescued many dogs, cats, squirrels, and even a pigeon who lived for 21 years and made two visits to NC. Jimmie will be greatly missed by many.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 27, in the Mausoleum of Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1311 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, 28412.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice, or to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401. A special thanks goes out from her family to Cape Fear LifeCare for their special care of Jimmie.
