
BOLIVIA — After a short illness, Wade Ferrell, 74, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2021. Wade was born Aug. 14, 1946, in Mecklenburg County.
After a long career as an optician, Wade decided to relocate to where he could enjoy being outdoors, playing golf, hunting, going to the beach and being on the water. Wade and Marsha moved to Oak Island in 2002 and have been in the area enjoying themselves ever since. Wade was a jack of all trades and could do anything. He was very generous with his time and enjoyed helping others. Wade recently retired and move to his dream house on the river.
Wade was preceded in death by his father, Richard Ferrell; and daughter, Lisa Ferrell.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha; mother, Lucille; and sisters, Merle Myers, and her husband, Mark, Renee Hedrick, and her husband, Bob; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Nathan and Martha Gilbert.
Wade enjoyed surrounding himself with his four-legged family, his big dog, Cooper; and kitties, Hobie and Tali.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2p.m., Friday, Aug. 20, at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel.
