WILMINGTON — Bruce Robert Campbell, 52, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021, at his home.
He was born May 21, 1969, in Annapolis, Maryland, to Bruce Ryan Campbell and Dorothy Ermovick Campbell of Boca Raton, Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Bidwell Campbell; parents; brothers, Steven Campbell, and his wife, Scarlet, and Ryan Campbell; mother-in-law, Margaret Clark Bidwell; father-in-law, Edward J. Bidwell; brothers-in-law, Jere A. Bidwell, Stephen E. Bidwell, and his wife, Elise; two nieces, Mary Ryan Campbell and Kylie Ryan Campbell; three nephews, Anson Bidwell, Ethan Bidwell and Luke Campbell; and treasured dogs, Summer, Emmie and Trixie.
Bruce was an avid surfer and loved fishing and playing golf with his buddies. As the oldest of three brothers, Bruce was the leader of countless adventures growing up. Bruce started the surf club at his high school, Pope John Paul II in Boca Raton, Florida. He attended college at East Carolina University, where he was a founding father of his fraternity, Sigma Pi.
Bruce fell in love with the North Carolina coast and eventually moved to Wilmington, where he started his landscape business, Campbell Landscape Management. He was passionate about the outdoors and earned his state fertilization and pesticide license to bring the best knowledge and expertise to his clients.
Bruce was the godfather to his nephew, Luke Campbell, and enjoyed every second spent with all of his beloved nieces and nephews. More than anything, Bruce loved spending time with his lovely wife, Catherine; and their three beautiful golden retriever pups, Summer, Emmie and Trixie.
Bruce truly cherished the many friendships he made throughout his life.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 1, at Wilmington Funeral Chapel with a memorial service at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 2, at the funeral home chapel with Pastor Doug Lain officiating. The service will be shared live at wilmingtoncares.com.
