SOUTHPORT — Harold Travis “Buddy” Spencer Jr., 63, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021. Harold was born Dec. 30, 1957, in Southport to Harold T. Spencer, Sr. and Eloise Lewis Spencer.
Harold was preceded in death by his son, Michael Travis Spencer; and mother, Eloise Lewis Spencer.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carolyn Spencer; son, Ervin (Jennifer) Spencer of Ocean Isle Beach; daughter, Laralyn Spencer of Portland, Oregon; son, Steven Spencer of Southport; father, Harold T. Spencer Sr.; sisters, Patricia A. (Roger) Mims of Bonneau, South Carolina, Sandra E. Allen of Green Cove Springs, Florida, and Brenda (Ken) Bowling of Oak Island; and grandchildren, Xander Spencer, Evelyn Spencer and Logan Spencer.
Harold was a founding member of the Southport Volunteer Rescue Squad, and at the age of 17, acquired his electrician’s license from the State of North Carolina. Harold worked for several years at Sunny Point Military Ocean Terminal before going on to found his own business, Spencer Electric and Refrigeration.
Harold loved his grandchildren deeply and was loved by his friends and family in return. He will be deeply missed by those in his life.
A gathering for family and friends in Harold’s honor will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 14, at Peacock-Newnam & White Chapel, Southport.
