WILMINGTON — James Barnett Lynch, 83, died Sunday, March 7, 2021, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center after being diagnosed with pneumonia.
Mr. Lynch was born June 21, 1937, in Lakewood, Ohio, to Nelson and Mary Lynch.
On Sept. 3, 1960, he married his wife of 60 years. They resided in McLean, Virginia, where he worked as an electrical contractor for E.C. Ernst Company. Together, they raised three children.
He was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed gardening, weekend trips and summer vacations to Wrightsville Beach. He was a devoted Washington Football Team fan and had fun playing board games, especially Monopoly, with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; three children, Susan, Debra and Michael; son-in-law, John; five grandchildren, Sarah, Nicole, Evan, Ian and Nina; three great-grandchildren, William, Josephine and Gideon; nieces, Michelle, Sonja and Tonya; nephews, Roy, Van, Donny and Gary.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John; and nephew, Charles (Terry).
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 11, at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation. The Rev. Jay Young will be officiating services. Light refreshments will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
