Thomas Hay Jones, 93, violinist who performed with local orchestras and chamber quartets

WILMINGTON — Thomas Hay Jones, 93, peacefully passed away Monday, Jan. 18, 2021.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 67 years, Phyllis T. Jones; children, David Jones (Bridgit) and Jocelyn Rossini, (Stephen); and three grandchildren, Alex, Erik and Zoia.

Thomas was born April 12,1927, in Easton, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Muhlenberg College, Allentown, Pennsylvania, with a major in foreign languages. Thomas served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Medical Corps. Thomas and Phyllis were married in 1953, and settled in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, where Tom became a French teacher for the New York City school system.

Thomas loved classical music, and he joined local orchestras and chamber quartets, where he enjoyed playing the violin. Thomas and Phyllis were worldwide travelers who visited every continent but Antarctica.

Following retirement, Thomas and Phyllis moved to Wilmington, and eventually to Plantation Village, where he quickly made friends and will be missed by many.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, services will be private.
