
HAMPSTEAD — Trudy Anderson Dixon, 67, peacefully passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, at her home.
Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Ruth Cloer Anderson of Alexis; husband, Irl Dixon; son, Jimmy Dixon, and his wife, Allison, of Hampstead; granddaughters, Olivia and Billie; and brothers, Carl Anderson of Alexis and Jeff Anderson, and his wife, Karen, of Raleigh.
Trudy was born Sept. 17, 1953, in Gaston County; grew up in Alexis; and attended Stanley High School. In 1984, she began a career in property management, and by the end of the late 1980s, she had risen to become apartment manager of several of the major apartment communities in Charlotte.
In the 1990s, she took a position with Stowe Mills as manager of their company-owned homes, and when Stowe Mills decided to sell their properties, she moved to a similar job with Village Development, the real estate division of Pharr Yarns. At Village Development, she managed their company-owned homes in McAdenville and helped with the development and sale of homes in the Adams Bluff and Hawthorne Place subdivisions in Belmont.
In 2002, she received a B.A. Degree from Queens College, focusing on Business. She soon moved to The Spectrum Companies in Charlotte and began a career in commercial property management. In 2012, she transferred to Nashville to become director of property management for Spectrum/Emery. Trudy finally returned to Charlotte in 2018 to The Spectrum Companies as their Charlotte regional property manager until illness forced her to retire in 2019.
Trudy was always involved in both her local and business communities. Along with two other women, she formed a group that was responsible for bringing the YMCA to Belmont. Later, she was president of the Belmont Chamber of Commerce (now Montcross Chamber). She was also president elect and later president of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) in Charlotte.
A service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 12, at First Presbyterian Church, Belmont.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Trudy’s memory may be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
