ASH — Nancy S. Smith, 86, passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center, Bolivia.
Nancy was born April 22, 1934, in Ash to the late Solon L. and Zilphia McKeithan Smith. She was a longtime member of New Britton Baptist Church and a member of the choir. She was a proud homemaker and believed in taking care of her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Smith Jr.; great-grandson, Nicholas Cortez; brothers, Robert Davis Smith, the Rev. Anson Smith, Dallas Smith and Oliver Smith; and three sisters, Maggie Benton, Mary King and Rosie Coleman.
Surviving are her loving daughter, Glenda Smith of the home; grandchildren, Leslie McKeithan (Rocky) and Slate Buck; great-grandchildren, Christian Cortez and Leah McKeithan; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 29, at New Britton Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Due to the pandemic, the wearing of masks and social distancing will be honored. Pallbearers will be Terry Hooks, Randy Aldridge, Brian McGuire, Ashley Simmons, Cody McKeithan and Martin Henderson.
