Karen Ann Gooch, 70, enjoyed the outdoors and fishing with her family

Karen Ann Gooch

Karen Ann Gooch, 70, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2020, following a short illness.

Karen, daughter of Allen and Celia Dobberke, was born Dec. 19, 1949, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She enjoyed the outdoors and fishing with her family. Karen had a love for music and her favorite artist was Elvis Presley.

Karen was very dedicated to her job delivering newspapers for the Star News for over 30 years. She was a huge Green Bay Packer fan! The Brunswick Plantation and Ocean Ridge were just two of the several locations she delivered to in her career. She took pride in giving her customers the best service possible, and everyone who knew her appreciated her attention to detail and commitment to get the job done.

Karen was a member of the St Luke’s Lutheran Church for many years. She enjoyed singing in the choir and playing in the bell choir. She was devoted in her faith, and the church was her second family.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jeffery Gooch.

She is survived by her brother, Dennis, and sister-in-law Joyce, and their four children, Kate, Sally, Heidi and Jake, and their spouses; and four great-nieces, one great nephew and numerous cousins.

Services are incomplete at this time and will be announced soon.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to continue her love of music to the music program at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 5869 Ocean Highway West, Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469; or McLeod Hospice House, 1203 East Cheves St., Florence, SC 29506.
