Linda E. Richardson, 64, kind soul who was full of life and energy

Linda E. Richardson

WILMINGTON — Linda E. Richardson, 64, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020, after a long, 21-year battle with cancer. She was born Jan. 18, 1956, in Florence, South Carolina, to the deceased William and Lucy Everleigh.

She grew up in Fayetteville with her sister, Lucille Everleigh Franklin. She loved animals of all kinds and she spent most of her time as a child loving and caring for her horses.

In 1976, she married Douglas P. Richardson Sr., together, they spent 27 years raising their only child, Doug Richardson. They took great pride in making memories and spoiling their only son. Linda was Doug’s No. 1 fan and could always be found cheering him on at anything he did. She spent most of her career as a paralegal, and anyone who worked with her knew that she would help with anything they needed. In addition to her work as a paralegal, she spent many years involved with Pike Rocky Point Presbyterian Church.

In 1999, Doug married Kelly Richardson, and she gained a daughter. Shortly after is when she began and won her first battle with breast cancer. Unfortunately, in 2013, she was re-diagnosed with breast cancer. Luckily, around this time, she became a grandma, and this gave her the strength and perseverance to keep fighting.

Linda was a kind soul who was full of life and energy. She loved her grandbabies and always enjoyed spending time with her family. Her passions were flowers, birds, cooking, fishing, going to the beach and shopping. We all knew Linda as a “trooper,” and she was always eager to please everyone. She never complained or shared about the pain she may have been in. Whatever her grandbabies wanted to do, she did. Her favorite saying was, “The play-toys here!”

Linda gave 100%, even when she could be hard-headed at times. She was a hardworking, over-achieving and a dedicated person. She wanted nothing more than to see her grandbabies grow up and would do anything for them.

She leaves behind her three beautiful grandbabies, Bexley (7), Briggs (5) and Bellamy (1). She resided on Elisha Drive with her loving Fiancé Keith Studt of 14 years.

A celebration of life ceremony will take place at 7 p.m., Saturday, July 18, oceanside at Wrightsville Beach Public Access No. 4. Please bring a chair or blanket to sit on as we celebrate her life. There is a large L-shaped parking lot at this access and additional parking at Public Access 2 and 3. Street-side parking will also be available starting at Access No. 6. The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice of Wilmington who helped take such good care of her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made on Linda’s behalf to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401; or New Hanover County Arboretum, 6206 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC 28403.
