WILMINGTON — Janine Yong Slater, 39, loving wife and mother, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020. She was peaceful, in no pain and had her husband by her side.
Janine was born Jan. 14, 1981, to Frank and Sue Lockwood. She grew up to become a beautiful, kind and vivacious woman. On Oct. 3, 2005, she married her husband, Chad Slater. Together, they raised their son, Chad “Deuce” Slater Jr., who Janine cared for selflessly.
Janine loved laughing, spending time with her family, but being with her son brought her the most joy. She was known for her out-of-this-world personality, big heart and selflessness. She loved hard, gave people a home when they needed one, always looked at the bright side and never missed an opportunity to shower those around her with love. She was always more concerned for her loved ones than herself. The love for her family was evident in everything she did and always resulted in a smile or laughter.
She is survived by her grandmother, Betty; father, Frank; mother, Sue; husband, Chad; sister, Alissa; son, Deuce; and several aunts, cousins, a niece, nephews and all of her friends she considered family.
Due to current restrictions caused by COVID-19, a celebration of life will be held in the near future.
