SOUTHPORT — Thomas Frank ‘Tom’ Mullins Sr., 67, born April 1953, in Annapolis, Maryland, lost his fight with cancer and went to be with our Lord Monday, May 11, 2020.
Tom was a welder by trade, which brought his family to Southport in 1991. He became a subcontractor and enjoyed helping others build their homes in the area. He was an avid fisherman who could typically be found at Dutchmen Creek catching bait or at the Southport City Pier just enjoying himself catching fish or looking at what others had caught.
He is survived by his children, Thomas F. Mullins Jr., and his spouse, Candra Mullins, of Badin, Laurie A. Mullins of Southport, Daniele N. Mullins of Southport and Christina M. Mullen of Greensboro. He took great pride and enjoyed spending time with his nine grandchildren, Lillith, Ginnah, Toby, Cairo, Nate, Bryan, Delia, Michelle and Ashlynn; sisters, Gail Jenezsko of Clayton, Georgia, and Kathleen Bryan and Joann Davenport, both of Jacksonville, Florida; and his four-legged best friend, Nibbler. He was preceded in death by both of his beloved parents, Gill and Josephine Mullins; elder brother, Ray Mullins; nephew, Shawn Smallwood; and niece, Dawn Evans.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date in Jacksonville, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
