SOUTHPORT — Bonnie Marissa “Rissie” Hargrove, 58, passed away Monday, April 13, 2020.
She was born Feb. 24, 1962. in Newburgh, New York, to Alberta and Eddie Robinson Sr. She was one of 14 children. In 1991, she married the love of her life, Robert Hargrove, and subsequently relocated to Southport.
Rissie was a loving wife and mother of two children, Valerie Stacy Carlton and Eric Robinson; and two stepchildren, Roe Hargrove and Roberta Ross.
She enjoyed her life as a homemaker. She also loved playing bingo, pool, singing and dancing. Her passion for every aspect of family life as a mother, wife, sister and grandmother was unsurpassed.
Rissie never missed an occasion to communicate or holidays, birthdays and the like. She was always fashionable, full of laughter, joy, and had a ready smile. She love gospel music and God’s word.
Rissie was survived by her husband, Robert; son, Eric; stepchildren, Roe and Roberta; grandchildren, Daquan, JaKwan, Previnesha, My-Love and Egypt; great-granddaughter, Ah’Daerah; brothers, Phillip, Eddie Jr., Marshall, Livis and Kendrick; sisters, June, Edna, Shara, Kimberly and Shanna; maternal aunt, Edna Culbreth; paternal aunts and uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Alberta; father, Eddie Sr.; daughter, Valerie; brothers, Paul and Bryan; and sister, Alberta Cox.
