Steven Lawrence Rivera II

SNEADS FERRY — Steven Lawrence Rivera II, 33, died Sunday, January 12, 2020.

He was born Aug. 22, 1986, in Salinas, California, to Steven Rivera and Karen Windsor.

Steven was a paramedic at New Hanover Regional Medical Center and previously worked in Pender County EMS. He was a Marine for 10 years and honorably discharged with combat tours to Afghanistan.

He was a man of few words, always spoken with sincerity. He lived for his daughter and his profession. He lived to help the people who couldn’t help themselves. He lived to honor his brothers and sisters in uniform. A genuine leader, with unquestionable integrity. A man that loved so deep the ocean would be jealous. “My dad did not tell many jokes, but he did they were pretty funny to me anyway.” – Isabel Marie “Mija” Rivera.

Survivors include his wife, Britany Rivera; daughter, Isabel Rivera; dad, Steven Rivera (Rosie); mom, Karen Windsor; sisters, Kathy Rivera and Cindy Rivera; and brother, David Rivera.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 20, at Andrews Hampstead Chapel, 17730 Highway 17 N., Hampstead.

Special thanks to the Barton, Hampton and Lampkin families and to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center EMS family. Please keep Steven’s partner, Eric Stancil, and his wife, Kelly, and son, Connor, in your prayers.
