WILMINGTON — Julius Jack Preddy, 82, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 15, 1937, in Franklinton to the late James A. Preddy and Clarice Roberts Preddy.
He retired from Corning after 34 years of service and served in the North Carolina National Guard for 37 years. He was a member of Wilmington Masonic Lodge No. 319, the Elks Lodge and the Sons of the Confederacy.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Wall Preddy; four children, Frankie Preddy, and his wife, Deborah, Sherry Ashley, and her husband, Robert, Jeffrey Preddy, and his wife, Cathy, and Jennifer Eason, and her husband, Rick; grandchildren, Laura Ashley Preddy, Heather Gammon, and her husband, Drew, Katelynn Ashley, Avery Ashley, Dawn Moran and Kimberly Norville; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Madelyn, Jace, Layne, Chase and Cole; sister, Cynthia O’Daniel; twin brother, Mack Preddy; and faithful canine companion, “Gabrielle.”
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 18, followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel.
