OAK ISLAND — Curtis Richard “Curt” Beadle, 63, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2019, after a very brief battle with cancer.
Curt was born April 12, 1956, in Schenectady, New York, the son of Robert G. and Marilyn L. (Johnson) Beadle. He received his Bachelors in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering from Duke University. He went on to attend UNC Chapel Hill, where he received his MBA.
He met his wife, Jean Saunders Beadle, while they were both living and working in Charlotte. Curt and Jean settled in Roxbury, Maine, where Curt worked as an engineer at the local paper mill. They raised two children, Robert S. Beadle and Stephanie L. Beadle. Curt enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family and designed and helped build a small cabin on Moosehead Lake in northern Maine.
Curt and Jean happily retired in 2015, became residents of Oak Island and spent their summers “upta camp” at Moosehead Lake. Curt loved both inland and coastal boating. He was so proud when he obtained his captain’s license in 2018.
Curt was preceded in death by his son, Robert S. Beadle, in 2004.
Curt is survived by his wife of over 37 years, Jean of Oak Island; daughter, Stephanie of Portland, Maine; parents, Robert and Marilyn of Schenectady, New York; sister, Nancy Beadle of Clifton Park, New York; and many cousins, nieces and a nephew.
The Beadle family will reach out to loved ones in the future regarding a gathering to celebrate Curt’s life.
