LELAND — Thomas Edison Long, 86, died Saturday, July 13, 2019. He was born in Chadbourn to Jay Gould and Bessie Fergus Long, who preceded him in death.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annette “Jenny” Long; three children of Oklahoma; and five brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his daughter, Sherry DeBose of Leland; son, Bruce Thomas Long Sr. of Leland; four grandchildren, Alyson DeBose, Erin DeBose, Bruce Thomas Long Jr., and Evan Long, all of Leland; and daughter and nine grandchildren in Oklahoma.
Mr. Long served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Gurkin Construction.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, at Riegelwood Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 18, at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Brian Beaver officiating. Burial will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
