HAMPSTEAD — Jean Marie Distante, 65, died Monday, June 17, 2019, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 10, 1953, in Hicksville, New York, the daughter of the late George McGuirk and Irene Rodd McGuirk.
Jean was described as being “tough as nails,” but she was a very loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her friends and family and loved watching football on Sunday afternoons, especially Super Bowls. She was a loyal New Orleans Saints fan.
She is survived by her son, Jason Legat; daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Whitmarsh; four grandchildren, Timothy Whitmarsh, Bryan Whitmarsh, Heather Whitmarsh and Karmen Legat; two great-grandchildren, Ben Hughes and Chloe Whitmarsh; and two brothers, George McGuirk and Robert McGuirk.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m., Thursday, June 20, at Andrews Mortuary Hampstead Chapel.
