Marjorie Jean Segelken, 91, cherished moments spent with friends and family

WILMINGTON — Marjorie Jean Segelken, 91, passed away Friday, April 19, 2019, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice.

She was born in Brooklyn, New York, a daughter of Harold Stebbins and Sigrid Cederstrom Stebbins.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, William; daughter, Carol Russell, and her husband, Bob; sons, Robert, and his wife, Tara, and John, and his wife, Cathy; grandchildren, Jennifer, Rob, Greg, Kristian, Shawn, Kendra, Brennan and Cade; sister, Louise; and many nieces and nephews.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harold and Robert; and two children, Janet and Bill.

Marjorie graduated from Girls Commercial High School and worked in New York City at the Borden Company. After raising her family, she worked as an administrative assistant at Adelphi University.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Baldwin, New York, serving as an elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher, chaperone for high school retreats and also volunteered in many other ways.

Her family was the most important part of her life. Her happiest times were raising her family and those spent with her children and grandchildren. She and Bill spent many wonderful times traveling with their friends. She was a much-loved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, April 22, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Road, Wilmington. A service to celebrate her life will follow at 2 p.m.

Service information to be held in New York is as follows. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, April 25, at Fullerton Funeral Home, 769 Merrick Road, Baldwin, New York. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 26, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park in Farmingdale, New York.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
