WILMINGTON — Sallie J. “Jean” Gaskill, 86, died peacefully Thursday, March 21, 2019. Born Dec. 27, 1932, in Wilmington, she was the daughter of the late William Lonnie Gaskill Sr. and Mary Ganey Gaskill.
Jean retired from New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She was a cherished leader in Girl Scouts and a faithful friend to many. While she had no children of her own, she was always surrounded with love by her 13 nieces and nephews.
Jean is survived by sisters, Ann Gaskill, Mary Meyler and Barbara Maultsby; as well as her nieces and nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by brother, William Lonnie Gaskill Jr.; and sister, Vivian Hewett.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 26, in Greenlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Samuel “Skip” Williams officiating.
