WILMINGTON — Linda Janice Carlson, 72, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She was born May 29, 1946, on Staten Island, New York, to Fletcher and Bernice Overman.
Linda attended Tottenville High School on Staten Island, New York, where she found her love of baton twirling and became a drum majorette. She moved to Huntington, New York, her senior year and graduated from Walt Whitman High School. Linda attended York Junior College in York, Pennsylvania.
Linda was a homemaker, devoting her life to her family’s well-being. Linda loved music and was a member of the choir at Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church for almost 30 years. She also served as the church’s music librarian for 25 years and spent many hours as a volunteer displaying her love for Christian music. Linda was an avid doll collector and a lover of animals, particularly cats. She was a very happy person whose laughter was contagious and never wavered despite her physical problems. Linda loved her family, praying daily for each one.
Linda was thankful to the kidney organ donor, from whom she received this beautiful gift and to the team of doctors at Duke University Hospital who made it all possible. She thanked God each day for all of them.
