HAMPSTEAD — Cecil R. Johnson, 83, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, at Woodbury Wellness Center.
He was born Sept. 17, 1935, in Wilmington, the son of the late Jarvis Alderman Johnson and Flora Pearl Shepard Johnson. Also remembered are two sisters, Doris Strickland and Jane Pickell; and brother, Carl V. Johnson, all of whom preceded him in death.
Surviving are his loving wife of over 59 years, Lucille Johnson; daughter, Tina Coleman, and her husband Robert “Mitch” Coleman of Hampstead; son, Frank Johnson of Castle Hayne; three grandchildren, Zachary Adam Coleman, Kelli Michelle Coleman and Hunter Lee Johnson; and sister, Pearl Hobbs of Tampa, Florida.
Cecil was a 32-year veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from Federal Paper Company as a machine operator. He was a member of Blake’s Chapel Advent Christian Church.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Blake’s Chapel Advent Christian Church followed by a funeral beginning at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Spearing officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blake’s Chapel Advent Christian Church.
