ASH — Lorane Hughes Stanley, 91, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, at her residence. She was born July 26, 1927, a daughter of Charlie Hughes and Caroline Smith Hughes.
In addition her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Shelton Lee Stanley; brothers, Evan Hughes, Thurston Hughes, Delmas Hughes and George R. Hughes; and sisters, Cleata Smith, Vera Smith, Catherine Long and Dora Mae Hughes Ludlum.
Surviving are her brother, Vardell Hughes (Genevieve); and sisters-in-law, Arlene Hughes, Jeanette Fowler and Vivian Hughes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 25, at Brunswick Funeral Service, Shallotte, by her special nephew, the Rev. Charlie Smith, and her pastor, the Rev. Jason Benton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Entombment will be held in Brunswick Memorial Gardens.
