
OAK ISLAND — Patricia Ellen “Pat” Manning, 74, passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, at SECU Hospice of Brunswick in Bolivia.
Pat was born March 8, 1944, daughter of the late Clayton Fountain and Mary Holly Fountain. She and her husband started Manning Pest Control in 1976, where she worked in various capacities. She loved to chat with the girls at their office and oftentimes could be found taking goodies to them to show her appreciation. Pat also enjoyed gardening.
She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Joseph E. “Joe” Clemmons.
Survivors include her husband, William Joseph “Joe” Manning of Oak Island; sister, Carol Fountain Clemmons of Midland, Georgia; three nephews, Joseph W. “Billy” Clemmons, and his wife, Susan, of Columbus, Georgia and Alex Jeffrey “Jeff” Clemmons, and his wife, Theresa, of Chandler, Arizona, and Jonah D. Cumbee of Boone; three nieces, Tami Maguire, and her husband, Joseph, of Merrimack, New Hampshire, Sherry B. McComas, and her husband, Mark, of Fuquay Varina and Tina P. Smith, and her husband, Daniel, of Zebulon; three great-nieces, Lindsey Maguire, Taylor McComas and Amy Smith; four great-nephews, Joseph Maguire, Joshua Clemmons, Christopher Clemmons and Colton McComas; and two sisters-in-law, Brenda Manning Cumbee, and her husband, Archie, of Fuquay Varina and Deborah Lilly of Winterville; and many special friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 13, at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral and Cremation Service Chapel with Virran Crump officiating. Burial will follow in Cape Fear Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home.
