
WILMINGTON — Joseph Narbut Jr., 83, passed away Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, at his home. He was born on April 21, 1935, in Sturgis, Pennsylvania, the son of Joseph Anthony Narbut and Mary Estock Narbut.
Joseph served his country with honor and distinction as a captain in the U.S. Air Force, retiring after 20 years.
Joseph is survived by his son, Vincent, and his wife, Andrea Davis Narbut; and grandchildren, Annika Claire Narbut and Oliver Vincent Narbut. He is also survived by his brothers, Eugene Narbut and Hilary Estock; and sister, Maryann McDermott. Together with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Narbut; and sister, Charlotte Narbut.
When Joseph was growing up, he enjoyed playing baseball, and as an adult, continued his love of the game by playing in a senior softball league, he also enjoyed fishing, golfing and spending time at the American Legion and the Air Force Association. The single greatest love he had was for his family, his son, daughter-in-law, and most especially, his grandchildren, who he loved dearly.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Dec. 10, at Wilmington Funeral Chapel, 1535 S. 41st St., Wilmington. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at noon, Tuesday, Dec. 11, at St. Therese Catholic Church, 209 S. Lumina Ave., Wrightsville Beach. Joseph is to be interred in the Arlington National Cemetery. In recognition of his honorable and faithful service to his country, there will be a rendering of full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials made to the Wounded Warrior Project, in memory of Joseph, would be greatly appreciated.
