Judith K. Becker, 75, volunteered with the Visitation Ministry at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church

WILMINGTON — Judith K. Becker, 75, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington. She was born June 2, 1943, in Lafayette, Indiana, to Eugene Sheppard and Marcella (Sally) Jennett Sheppard.

Ms. Becker graduated from St. Elizabeth Nursing School in Lafayette, Indiana, in 1964, and she married “Steve,” the love of her life on Nov. 21, 1964. She and her husband lived in Illinois, Virginia and Minnesota before relocating to Wilmington in 1985. She loved the water and was an avid boater and tennis player. She volunteered with the Visitation Ministry at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Stephen V. Becker, and her parents.

She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Ronald Sheppard (Karen), Steve Sheppard (Virginia), Neil Sheppard (Connie), Gayle Davitto (Pete), Duane Sheppard (Linda), Joellyn Hamm (Mark), and Jeannine Arvik (Don); and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m., Friday, Nov. 9, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Wilmington. The family will receive guests at the church beginning at 8:30 a.m. Inurnment will follow at 11:15 a.m. in Oleander Memorial Gardens, Wilmington. A memorial Mass will also be held in Hoopeston, Illinois, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or New Hanover Humane Society Inc.
