Allen Robert Karpinsky Jr., 64, passionate storyteller who enjoyed sharing memories of yesteryear

LELAND — Allen Robert Karpinsky Jr., 64, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice with his family by his side. Mr. Karpinsky was born Nov. 24, 1954, in Wilmington. He was the son of the late Allen and Peggy Karpinsky.

Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Coppersmith, and her fiancé, T.J. Tabor, of Leland; along with son, Allen Robert Karpinsky III, and his fiancé, Crystal Holliday, of Wilmington. Also left to share his memories are his two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Coppersmith and Ronald Coppersmith III. Surviving sisters include Diane Kennedy, and her husband, Richard, of Apex, along with Vicky Simmons, and her husband, Greg, of Leland. He will also be remembered and missed by his nieces and nephew, Alise Walker, Kristy Smith, Keith Karpinsky; and great-nephews, Tanner Blue, Jaylon Karpinsky and Jace Karpinsky.

He was also known to many of us as Bimbo, with a smile that was so infectious that it would light up a room along with his laugh. He was employed by Coating & Adhesives Corporation of Leland and also worked many years with GLF Construction of Wilmington. He had a love for all types of racing, including go-carts, and attended many Nascar races. He was the most avid Duke fan of all time with a passion for sitting around telling old stories and sharing his great memories. He leaves behind many good friends, old and new, along with his grand-dog, Molly.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, 3915 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home. After the service, the family will receive friends and loved ones at the home of Jimmy and Kristy Smith, 8213 Lantana Lane, Wilmington.

The family would like to also give special thanks to the staff of Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
