
SOUTHPORT — Sandra Scott Trautwig, 76, passed on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018.
Sandra was born Sept. 1, 1942, in Youngstown, Ohio, to William R. and Martha E. Scott. Sandra graduated from South High School in Youngstown, Ohio, in 1960. She moved to Florida in 1973 and worked for many years until retiring to Southport in 2010 to be closer to family.
She had an ardent love for politics and was a member of Brunswick County Indivisible Women. She also volunteered for numerous years at Dosher Flea Market, where she made many good friends. She was highly admired and loved by many. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, James A. Buist, and his wife, Dana Zarlenga-Buist; daughter, Kathryn J. Scheetz, and her husband, Dr. Kurt T. Scheetz; grandchildren, Melissa and Emily Buist and Lauren, LeighAnn and Thomas Scheetz. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael C. Buist.
Per her wishes, there will be a graveside memorial at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 8, at Palms Memorial Park and Mausoleum, Sarasota, Florida.
Special thanks to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, New Hanover and Dosher hospitals, Cape Fear Cancer Specialists and all of the family and friends who have helped over the last 10 months.
We will always carry her memory in our hearts.
