HAMPSTEAD — Mary Ruth Blalock, 79, passed gently from her earthly life Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, at Woodbury Wellness, Hampstead.
She was born Oct. 31, 1938, in Richmond County, the daughter of the late Martin Robert and Ethel Estelle Bowers Blalock. Mary Ruth was also preceded in death by her twin great-grandchildren, Brianna Lynn Carter and Allen Michael Carter.
Mary Ruth is survived by her daughter, Debbie Ward (Mike); granddaughters, Melissa Carter (Nathan) and Erica Roberts (Reed); four great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Malone (Frank); and many extended family and friends.
For many years, Mary Ruth was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Carolina Beach, where she served as nursery director. Mary Ruth loved her family, and she enjoyed the simplest things in life. She loved gardening and never turned down an opportunity to go shopping. Her gentle spirit, warm heart and radiant smile will always be remembered.
