WILMINGTON — Awilda Mae “Willie” Locke, 85, passed away Monday, June 25, 2018, at her home.
She was born Jan. 28, 1933, in Wilmington. Her parents were Roy Gould and Hazel Garner Gould.
Willie grew up in Wilmington, graduated from New Hanover High School and was a graduate of James Walker Hospital Nursing School. She and her husband lived in Waterloo, Iowa, until their retirement, and then moved back to her beloved Wilmington, where she was active in her church, St. Andrew’s On-the-Sound Episcopal Church and her community.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Frederick Charles Locke; and two sons, Frederick Charles Locke II and David Ray Locke.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday July 6, at St. Andrew’s On-the-Sound Episcopal Church Cemetery.
