William Wayne Hardee, 78, retired from NCDOT

WILMINGTON — William Wayne Hardee, 78, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at home. He was the husband of Yvonne Lewis Hardee. Born Sept. 10, 1939, in Wilmington, he was the son of the late Harvey Hardee and Myrtle Phillips Hardee.

Mr. Hardee worked as a supervisor in Traffic Services for the North Carolina Department of Transportation before retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; son, William Wayne Hardee Jr., and his wife, Elizabeth (Dee), of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Brandy Hardee Tyson, and her husband, Aaron, and Nathaniel Hardee; two great-grandchildren, Noah Craddock and Taylor Tyson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Doris, Barbara and Glenda.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, July 1, at Andrews Market Street Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, July 2, at Andrews Market Street Chapel. Burial will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens, Wilmington.
