Jackie was born in Southhampton County, Virginia on December 8, 1933, to Claudie Thomas Barnes and Inez Pope Barnes.
Jackie was a communicant at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Wilmington. She was a graduate of Wake Forest College and retired from New Hanover County Schools. She was a member of AREME Chapter Order of Eastern Star in Wilmington.
She is survived by her husband Frank George Hickman; two daughters, Teresa Hickman Howlett and husband Duane of Wilmington, and Evelyn Joyce “Joy” Hickman and husband Randy of Raleigh; one son Wilton Barnes Hickman and wife Dorothy of Boykins, VA; grandchildren Doug and Drew Hickman and Christopher O’Neill. Three grand-dogs “Max”, “Romeo, and “Casanova”
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be planned.
