
A.A. “Double A ” Fussell, age 81, of Wilmington passed away peacefully on June 16, 2018, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter.
He was born January 6, 1937, in Duplin County, North Carolina the son of the late Ruth and Arlie Fussell.
Mr. Fussell proudly served his country in the United States Army as a medic. Following his service in the military he was employed with the Rail Road as a conductor and retired after a fulfilling 38-year career. A. A. chartered fishing boats and had a captain’s license, loved to be outdoors hunting, fishing and farming. He had a talent to of being able to fix anything, read numerous books to acquire knowledge on all subject matter and could carve wood blocks into artful ducks or other birds.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 29 years, Jill “Beanie” Fussell of the home; brother, Norwood Fussell; sister, Eleanor Woodruff; canine companions, Diesel and Tinker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
